Civil Engineering Technician
Position Summary:
The Atriax Group is seeking a dynamic and passionate Civil Engineering Technician to join our firm. As an Atriax Designer, you will work closely with other registered engineers as well as engineer cell colleagues on a diverse portfolio of projects that span the globe. You be will be involved in all aspects of the day-to day project management and design of our multi-discipline, architectural and engineering projects from the initial planning through construction phase.
The successful candidate will have:
- Demonstrated experience with architectural and engineering product review.
- Ability to work and thrive in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and experience communicating with regulatory agencies, clients, contractors, etc.
- Ability to positively motivate, manage, and develop subordinate employees
- 10+ years of experience in engineering project delivery
- Experience with DoD, USACE, VA, DOT and/or County/Municipal projects
Required Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- 2-year Associate’s Degree in Civil / Architectural Technology or equivalent experience
- 10 plus years of experience as technician or designer in civil/site development projects
- Experience with engineering design using computer-based drafting, design and modeling applications (i.e., Civil 3D, etc.)
Successful candidate’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Produce drawings using computer assisted drafting systems (CAD) – Civil 3d features, profiles, alignments, surfaces, assemblies, corridors • Draft plans and detailed drawings for civil discipline, including but not limited to site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, erosion control, parking, etc • Analyze and Interpret existing survey data • Assist in the design of gravity sewer and storm drain • Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data to ensure that they conform to design concepts
- Produce final hard and soft copy documents suitable for submission to clients consistent with contract requirements
- Produce draft and final design specifications using standard guide specifications
- Participate in site visits and conduct field measurements to validate existing site and as-built conditions • Observe a project site and evaluate contractor’s work for compliance with construction documents • Perform quantity takeoffs for cost estimating • Prepare reports and document project activity (meeting minutes, construction observation reports)
- Engage with clients and contractors regarding project requirements, concept and design development, and design presentations
- Use software to included, but not limited to AutoDesk products such as Auto CAD; Civil 3D; and standard office software such as Microsoft Office, MS Word, MS Power Point, MS Outlook, MS Excel.
- Maintain submittal process including register
- Review contractor schedule and progress for compliance
- Travel is required, typically 1-3 day trips to project locations throughout the US
